About

Human health and global environmental change are strongly linked. On the one hand, human behaviour influences the environment, and climate change, pollution and loss of biodiversity have become a threat to the health of humans, other living beings and the planet’s ecosystems. Sustainable and healthy behaviour, on the other

hand, goes hand in hand with numerous co-benefits for health, the environment and sustainable development. With increasing awareness of the linkages between health and (global) environmental change, the integrative and transdisciplinary health concepts One Health and Planetary Health have emerged and play a crucial role in

our current and future understanding of health and health literacy. Although there are different approaches and conceptual models of One Health and Planetary and One Health Literacy, they want to contribute to a broader understanding of health literacy – for healthy people on a healthy planet.

The IHLA “Planetary and One Health Division was launched at the Global Health Literacy Summit in Rotterdam 18-20 September 2024. Since then, more than 330 members have joined the group on LinkedIn. Besides providing a network for all those who are interested in One Health and Planetary Health Literacy, the Division works for a common understanding and implementation of Planetary and One Health Literacy in policy, research, and practice and collaborates in an interdisciplinary way to improve health literacy for people and the planet.

We are happy to welcome you to the “Planetary and One Health Literacy” Division. Join us on LinkedIn.
